Tu Duc Mausoleum
Tu Duc's reign began in 1848 and ended in 1883. The emperor attached considerable importance to the construction of his final residence and the buildings and gardens around it. The many buildings it comprises blend into the vegetation and the numerous pools and basins, and they are in perfect harmony with their environment.

Hue Citadel

This was the administrative centre of southern Viet Nam during the 17th and 18th centuries. Within the citadel were located not only the administrative and military functions of the empire, but also the Imperial Residence, the Hoang Thanh (Imperial City), the Tu Cam Thanh (Forbidden Purple City) and related royal  palaces.

Thien Mu Pagoda

This complex was built on the exact spot where, according to legend, a ‘celestial lady’ dressed in red appeared and asked the local lord to build a pagoda in order to control the subterranean forces and dominate the region. The first true pagoda was built between 1553 and 1613.

Between 1844 and 1846, the 7-storey tower (Phuoc Duyen), 21.24 metres high, was built on the orders of Emperor Thieu Tri. Since then, right up to the present day, further construction and restoration work has followed.

This holy complex is one of the most venerated sites in the city of Hue.
